NRWA Summer Eco-Adventures Programs

Beginning June 23 thru July 31, 2014

Do your children enjoy outdoor adventure and exploration?  Are you looking to involve them in a fun active summer program?  The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) may have the answer for you with our 4-day programs each designed for specific age groups and led by NRWA educators and naturalists.  Group sizes are small for a better individual experience; sign up now and invite your friends to join you.

Wilderness Summer Survival Week for Ages 11- 14
June 23 – June 26, 2014 (Mon – Thurs) from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Challenge yourself in nature with four adventurous, action-packed days of hiking Groton trails through numerous conservation properties, paddling the Squannacook River, developing summer survival skills, and exploring the inner world of our local rivers, woodlands, and fields while making new friends. Outdoor adventure at its best with River Classroom Director Stacey Chilcoat. Program fees are $200 for NRWA members or $230 for non-members.

Wild World of Water Week for Ages 6-8
July 8 – July 11, 2014 (Tues – Fri) from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Escape the heat of summer with a fun-filled four days all about water! Collect aquatic critters from the Nashua River, make a fresh water aquarium, do water experiments, make mini-boats to race on mini streams, and stay cool each day with lots of water games. Perfect for nature & water loving kids! Led by NRWA's fun-loving naturalist educator Diane Lauber. Program fees are $180 for NRWA members or $210 for non-members.

All Things Animal: Incredible Insects, Secretive Salamanders & Outrageous Otters for Ages 9-11
July 14 – July 17, 2014 (Mon – Thurs) from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Calling all animal lovers and nature explorers!  From reptiles to mammals, this program focuses on the amazing lives of our local wildlife. Collect fascinating insects, practice summer tracking skills, hike local trails and play animal camouflage games. Record your findings with sketches, photos, and stories in your own eco-adventure scrapbook.         Program fees are $190 for NRWA members or $220 for non-members.

Let's Build It! for Ages 6-9
July 28 – July 31, 2014 (Mon-Thurs) from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Come and build with friends! During this program we will design and construct with natural and man-made materials, make small structures to take home, create large forts to climb in, and investigate how animals build homes. We also will make some temporary homes for animals and insects! Program fees are $190 for NRWA members or $220 for non-members.
