When Do Bears Wake Up? Family Program

Saturday, April 6, 2019, 1:00- 2:00 p.m., Richards Memorial Library, 44 Richards Avenue in Paxton, MA

Did you know that almost 5,000 black bears live in Massachusetts? Young children and families are invited to learn about our local black bears. Listen to a story about bears, touch a complete bear skin and skull, and feel real bear claws. Children will make bear prints in clay, create a moveable bear head out of paper, and pretend to be bears and cubs waking up for spring. Outdoors we'll play an active bear game and look for bear food. We'll also learn how scientists in Massachusetts check bears while they're dormant. This program is appropriate for children ages 5 to 10 and their adults. Space is limited to 20 individuals; registration is required. To register, please contact the Paxton library, at (508) 754 -0793.
